Click here for direct link. <<-- use right-click & save link.. (only the executable changed from last Beta) - Corrected reqfile behavior - (I think it's working well now, but I've said that before...) - Using new (resizable) DIR requester now. Added a workaround for centering it on the screen because windows won't do it (inexplicably) - fixed selected line colors in attr colors for lvs - fixed searchvar which returned wrong position and var-length due to utf8 change - fixed $$richedit.line which returned only 1st character (utf8) BUT the richedit control itself is still ANSI like before - (todo) Dimitris

Hi Dimitris
It's a nice looking requester now and the resizing is great.
Sadly the behaviour of not moving to the initial dir and not showing all folders of the parent dir is still there but I think I can live with that. All other problems seem solved such as showing network PC's/Laptops and even showing Greek (and Chinese) characters
Also searchvar now shows correct search positions.
Thanks for all the work done...

Hi Fer,
I can't replicate the problem. Use the following gui - which works for me - and tell me how you mean
G4C REQTEST
WINDOW 100 100 300 100 "Test"
xOnLoad var = "d:/" guiopen #this xOnClose guiquit #this
XBUTTON 10 10 100 30 "Test" reqfile dir "Title:" $var var say "Choice = $var"
Also, the behavior with the not showing the rest of the sub-folders on re-visiting a folder with many sub-folders is (I think) Windows behavior, to reduce clutter maybe. I don't make the file list - that's all handled by Windows

Hi Dimitris,
Your example works OK, the list even moves to drive D: but only because D: is a root drive which is also valid for drives much further down in the list like external USB drives. They all show correctly as long as you do not specify a subfolder.
As soon as I change var to "C:/Windows/System32/AdvancedInstallers" or any other subfolder, then the last visual entry is Main(C:) and I have to scroll down to system32 that now only contains AdvancedInstallers. The rest is gone.
Unfortunately I cannot show the result as all keyboard input (printscreen) is blocked while reqfile dir is open. I could alternatively show something made from a camera if attachments on this forum are enabled.
Is it correct that you can have more than 1 reqfile dir open at the same time?

Hi Fer, This is the result on my system: It doesn't scroll down to the selection automatically, you have to to it manually (not my fault) Note - I found a work-around for this now, but it's silly that windows won't do it automatically As I said, the fact that it shows only the selected folder is Windows behavior, to avoid clutter. You just click on the System32 expansion arrow and they appear. No, you shouldn't be able to - they are on the same (main) thread. Otherwise execution would jump all over the place. That said, have you tried it?

Hi Dimitris,
I'm glad to see that you experience the same as I do. I was starting to think that it was my system that's in error. (or Windows, or explorer settings...)
Due to a little shaking of my hand I accidently pressed the 'Test' button twice and ended up with 2 reqfiles, the last covering the first. So I deliberately pressed the 'Test' button 10 times and ended with 10 reqfile windows, all covered by the last one.
Not being able to make a (partial)screen dump of reqfile is caused by an ever running gui that intercepts keystrokes to enable multiple functions to the print screen key. After unloading that gui the print screen key works again and is restored to it's basic function.

Hi Dimitris,
A new issue has occurred with the 'Run' command. If you try to run an exe G4C is apparently adding an argument causing the exe to return the error that "xx.xxx" does not exist. You can try this in a G4C output window and typing: 'run notepad.exe'. On my PC I get the error mess from notepad "cannot find file xx.txt". This happens with all exe's I try to open using the 'run' command and the number xx is slowly adding up to 36 at the moment.
I hope it's not too much trouble to solve this

Hi Fer,
Thanks - It happens when there's no arguments.
I can't check now because I already fixed it but if you give "" for the argument it may run ok

Hi Dimitris,
I already tried that, but it makes no difference if you give "" as argument or not. It occurs with all exe's that may accept an argument. Exe's that don't need an argument to run like for instance Ccleaner.exe run as expected.

Hi Dimitris,
Found two issues. 1) 'set deeptrans off' seems not to honour '& ', gets replaced with '_' (this never worked for me, had to use something like 'repvar text "\&" "\&\&" ' first before dealing with it) 2) 'print text ...' using special characters like 'äöü' etc. get printed correctly, but after printing the field, it's always issuing a page break.
I send you an email with a sample gui and the print output of it. Regards, René
